Everything You Wanted to Know About iProbio Probiotics and Prebiotics — and Didn’t Dare to Ask

Targeted and personalised probiotics and prebiotics raise various questions and uncertainties in your mind. Since iProbio is the first to introduce this concept on the Slovak market, we want to answer them and make your decision-making easier. Read on to find out how you should best look after your microbiome for different diseases.

In this article, we provide answers to the most common questions you ask us.

Why take probiotics fasting?

When you take probiotics on an empty stomach, they pass through your stomach at a time when there are not very active stomach acids. So they arrive in full force in your intestines in a matter of moments and can begin to take effect.

But if you take probiotics with or after a meal, you are exposing sensitive live bacteria to the action of enzymes and stomach juices. This aggressive environment is unfavourable for the bacteria, some of which die or lose their effectiveness.

It is therefore advisable to take probiotics fasting.

Watch out for antibiotics

Do you take antibiotics? In that case, take probiotics up to 2 hours after them. The distance from antibiotics is more important for the effectiveness of probiotics than taking them fasting.

I have celiac disease, can I take probiotics?

For celiac disease, we recommend probiotics  HIT for Digestion+®.

We have carefully selected probiotic strains for these probiotics that your body will tolerate well, even if you suffer from celiac disease, sensitive digestion, histamine intolerance, IBS or IBD.

HIT for Digestion+® is a targeted intestinal probiotic:

  • restores and significantly improves the function of the gut microbiota,
  • optimizes digestion,
  • directly develops the microbiome with probiotic bacteria ,
  • added omega-3 fatty acids (in powder form) support the establishment of beneficial bacteria and their viability.

What else can you do?

Enhance the effects of targeted probiotics with prebiotics Mikrobióm+®, which act as food for beneficial bacteria. Their main benefit is that:

  • they promote the multiplication of probiotic bacteria,
  • strengthen the intestinal wall,
  • improve the function of the intestinal barrier,
  • act as an antioxidant.

The main ingredients of Mikrobióm+® are the flavonoids hesperidin and naringin. Click here to read a study on their influence.

How do probiotics and prebiotics affect IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)?

The main problem with irritable bowel syndrome is the inadequacy of the intestinal barrier. To restore it, use Mikrobióm+®, which we have developed with people with IBS in mind. Mikrobióm+® contains the flavonoids hesperidin and naringin, which:

  • supports the regeneration and strengthening of the intestinal barrier,
  • strengthens the intestinal wall,
  • serves as food for butyrate-forming bacteria.

What is butyrate?

Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid that is produced by intestinal bacteria during the digestion of fiber.

  • it is a source of energy for the cells of the intestinal wall
  • anti-inflammatory
  • protects the intestinal wall
  • regulates digestion
  • supports the balance of the gut microbiota

That's why it's so important to have enough butyrate in your body when you have IBS.

Can acne be affected by probiotics?

In puberty, acne arises mainly as a result of hormonal changes, excessive sebum production, bacterial infection and genetics. However, it is proven that there is a relationship between the gut and the skin. And that's why you're thinking right when you ask if probiotics can be beneficial for acne.

We don't yet have research focusing on the relationship of acne and probiotics. However, we hypothesize that the combination of ALLERGIC+ probiotics (designed primarily for people with allergies and eczema) with Microbiome+ prebiotics is beneficial. This is confirmed by feedback from clients.

How to relieve atopic eczema?

Although the exact cause of eczema is not completely clear, there is evidence that an imbalance of the gut microbiome exacerbates these problems. You can therefore alleviate them by restoring the balance of the gut microbiome.

Studies have shown that people with eczema have lower concentrations of health-promoting bacteria, such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, in their gut and, conversely, increased numbers of harmful bacteria.

You will have heard that the gut microbiome is fundamentally involved in the function of the immune system. Its disruption can contribute to the development of neurodermatitis, which manifests itself in chronic inflammation and itching.

If you suffer from neurodermatitis, we recommend taking ALLERGIC+ probiotics:

  • they contain 6 selected probiotic strains of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria,
  • contribute to the maintenance of healthy skin,
  • develop the microbiome with friendly bacteria that cannot be supplied by the diet in sufficient quantities,
  • contribute to the maintenance of healthy mucous membranes,
  • are lactose, gluten and cow's milk protein free,

Scientific studies have shown ALLERGIC+ to be effective for these health problems.

Combine probiotics with prebiotics

CombineALLERGIC+ probiotics with Microbiome+ prebiotics, which:

  • support the regeneration and strengthening of the intestinal barrier,
  • strengthen the intestinal wall,
  • nourish butyrate-forming bacteria.

A disrupted microbiome will not repair itself overnight. To achieve a real change, take ALLERGIC+ and Microbiome+ daily for at least 3 months.

For fibre deficiency, add prebiotics

Are you often stressed and struggling with a lack of fibre in your diet? Perhaps your digestion has been disrupted and harmful microorganisms predominate in your gut.

By taking Microbiome+ prebiotics and ALLERGIC+ probiotics:

  • restore the health of the intestinal barrier
  • prevent inflammation
  • support immunity

The effectiveness of these measures is confirmed by international studies and client experience.

To develop the full effects of the probiotic treatment, take ALLERGIC+ and Microbiome+ daily for at least 3 months.

Do probiotics work for SIBO (bacterial overgrowth syndrome)?

Bacterial overgrowth syndrome is when bacteria that are supposed to live in the large intestine start to colonise the small intestine. It is manifested by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea and associated weight loss due to vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

For support with SIBO, take targeted Microbiome+ prebiotics because:

  • they help regenerate the intestinal barrier,
  • strengthen the intestinal wall,
  • support the life of butyrate-producing bacteria.

Butyrate is crucial for gut health, especially in SIBO.

Probiotics and prebiotics are not the same, you need both

Microbiome+ is not a probiotic - a dose of live bacteria is. It is a prebiotic - a "feed" for anaerobic bacteria that live in the gut and cannot be supplemented by probiotics.

A comprehensive treatment plan for SIBO should be determined by your doctor or gastroenterologist based on an accurate diagnosis; make an appointment for an examination.

Do iProbiotics help with diverticulitis?

Diverticulitis is an inflammation or infection of the small sacs (diverticula) in the large intestine. It manifests itself with persistent abdominal pain and increased temperature.

From our products, we would recommend Microbiome+ prebiotics for diverticulitis. Flavonoids, which are their main ingredient:

  • they promote the production of the anti-inflammatory substance butyrate,
  • helps reduce inflammation,
  • strengthen the intestinal barrier.

More information about Microbiome+ can be found here.

If you want to improve the overall diversity of your microbiome and reduce bloating and abdominal pain, we recommend HIT for Digestion+ probiotics with clinically proven bacterial strains. Read about their effects here.
